Humor-filled observations (with the occasional rant) about life (usually mine), love (or lack thereof) and the pursuit of happiness from someone who is constantly told she dances to the beat of a different drummer (I prefer dancing to marching which is just one of the many reasons I would make a horrible soldier). Enjoy!

The Love Bus

After work tonight I decided to go to one of my favorite stores, F.Y.E, and just browse around for a while. I had a very stressful day and was feeling particularly cranky, so I decided to unwind and see if I could find any good discounts on cds. I was trying be good though and not blow my money, so even though I saw a few things I really wanted, I resisted temptation! Although, I really wanted that collection of Jack Benny cds (there were 20 disks in total for like $15!) and that Achmed the Dead Terrorist talking doll (the price would have keeled my budget though ;-D), or the Peanut talking doll.(Fans of ventriloquist Jeff Dunham know who Achmed and Peanut are. ;-D) So I left the store with my budget relatively unscathed.

The sun was getting ready to set and a cool breeze was kicking up its heels as I left the store. I went to the bus stop and sat upon the blue metal bench and let the enjoyment of listening to my ipod shuffle and the beautiful weather wash over me. I could feel the tensions of the day starting to melt away as I daydreamed about this and that. Finally, the bus arrived and my fellow travelers and I all piled in. I settled into my customary position of gazing out the window as the bus pulled away from the stop. On the way, I noticed I was still feeling that wonderful cool air and came out of my reverie to look around. I saw that someone had a window cracked open which explained the gentle gust of wind. Then I noticed a strange phenomenon– just about everywhere I looked there were couples sitting together with the women with their heads on their guys' shoulders! There was an overall atmosphere of tranquility permeating the bus. With the sunset and the cool evening air, it felt positively romantic! Believe me that is not something you would normally think of when riding the city bus. I was starting to think I had gotten on the wrong bus! Did the city incorporate a new gimmick in public transportation that I was not aware of? Could it be I had stumbled upon "The Love Bus?" I looked closely, but the driver didn't resemble Captain Stubing and there was no Julie or Gopher in sight, so I breathed a sigh of relief. But it was still rather odd. Although, I have to say it was better than hearing some guy yelling and talking rather loudly to another passenger across the bus as was the case on my way to the store. In the mood I was in at that point, he's just lucky I didn't rip his larynx out, but I digress. ;-)

So there I am looking at all the lovey-dovey couples, and frankly getting a little nauseated ;-), when I started wondering… if there were a "Love Bus" would it have a theme song like "The Love Boat" did, and if so, how would it go? So, because I'm a fan of parodies, I started to make up my own lyrics to the tune of "The Love Boat" theme song. Yeah, I'm weird like that, but hey, that's how Weird Al Yankovic got started, and what can I say, it helped pass the time on my way home! ;-)

It had been a while since I heard the original "Love Boat" theme song, so after arriving at home I looked it up online and, with the tune to guide me, I finished my "Love Bus" theme song.:-D Now, if I can just get my friend Lisa to record it for me……… (hint, hint, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, Lisa!) ;-) Anyways, I now present to you my new song "The Love Bus". I'm including the original "Love Boat" theme song so you can get a feel for the tune and sing along if you like. ;-D Anyways, ahem, here it goes:

"The Love Bus"
